Shannon’s Perspective:
Not a lot to write about tonight’s song. It’s an instrumental (so no lyric tonight) from one of our favorite movies (True Romance) and the composer (Hans Zimmer) is one that has done the score for many movies that we enjoy (Inception, Interstellar, Dune, Gladiator, Lion King, The Dark Knight trilogy and so so many more). So, while there isn’t much to write about the song, tonight’s dance was filled with laughter and joking between us. Larry is one of the funniest people I know and makes me laugh every day; laughter truly is one of the best medicines in the world.
When I say I love music, I mean I LOVE MUSIC. If there's a reason for me to love the invention of the internet, it's all the new music that I've been exposed to. That and writing this uninteresting blog. My own sons probably could care less.
After "regular" music, movie soundtracks are my second favorite. And my other second favorite would be video game music. Over time, my sons have exposed me to a ton of that...of which I'm eternally grateful. More on that later.
Who doesn't know the name John Williams? And over time I wondered who would dethrone him, if it was even possible. IMO Hans Zimmer is the one who has taken the baton. So many great songs created for so many iconic movies.
And in this "March Madness" themed music list, how could a song called "Amid The Chaos Of The Day" not be on it? This from a movie called True Romance (written by Quentin Tarantino, directed by Tony Scott).
Coming home every night, doing our slow dances and writing this blog "Amid The Chaos Of The Day" is not the easiest of things. And I'd be lying if I said there have been no days I didn't feel like doing this project. You don't have to know the movie context to enjoy the song - to me it does portray the ups and downs of a day in the life...
P.S. Since there's no lyrics, I wonder how Shannon is handling this?
P.P.S. Fun fact(s): The very first video ever played on MTV was Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles. Hans Zimmer is on keyboards.
