So what exactly is happening here? Well, something simple and yet extremely complicated.
My wife and I are celebrating our 30th Anniversary and as you can imagine, there has been A LOT that has happened over those 30 years.
One of the things that did and still drives our attraction to one another is our love of music. From day one it has been there. And as we had children, it became an important part of our family life. Weaving its way through our greatest triumphs and greatest tragedies.
As we approached our 30th, I laid out a challenge to my wife: come up with 365 songs that immediately transport us back to a moment in time or drives an emotional response, and share those memories. This is critical for many reasons. I have family history of dementia (plus my memory has never been the best), our sons are in that weird transition period where they are slowly realizing mom & dad aren't such the idiots they thought we were, but not interested enough to listen to our stories and we currently don't have any grandchildren. So here we are.
At this point, I will also share that my wife has been diagnosed with a type of Small Fiber Neuropathy. It is degenerative and because they cannot determine the underlying cause, there currently is no cure. If she so chooses, she may post more detail about it.
But for me, I wanted to continue to create those magical music memories.
While we are both still of sound mind. And body. And soul.
So the plan is to slow dance together every night over the next year.
Now that is not as simple as it may sound. For example, when the day comes and (spoiler) the theme from Spongebob Squarepants is the song of the day, well, I think you get the point.
But fear not! I have chosen one song that is appropriate for what I'm trying to achieve, so that every night we have that moment together...
