So today we made the drive back home to Saint and we also had to pick up one very judgmental Akita from boarding. That was fun.
Anywho, it was a great weekend visiting family. And as Shannon and I had a couple of hours on the road to reflect and talk about this project, we aligned to dance to Come Dancing tonight for a couple of reasons.
Shannon thought this was a good lyric to share:
"Her daughters go out, now it's her turn to wait"
This really comes from a "circle of life" type of thought process. It was 35 years ago that we graduated from high school, then our sons, and now nephew. So now it's her brothers turn to wait and see what life brings.
My ever bleak outlook on life has always zeroed in on this lyric:
"The day they knocked down the palais - Part of my childhood died, just died"
Because that's what happens as you grow up. Malls you used to hang out in; Movie theatres where you watched Star Wars for the very first time; Polaris Amphitheatre where you saw so many great artists perform. It's literally an IKEA now. They're gone. And part of my childhood did die.
For Shannon, it was literally a 21 year span of time before she was back in Saint. Imagine all the change, even in a small Kansas town, that occurred over that timeframe. And in a small town, any change is immediately noticeable and traumatic.
P.S. Here's some Polaris post-mortem pics II; pics I
