“Because the things you say and the things you do surround me”
This has been an important song through many different stages of my life, but through all those stages it is always me singing to Larry. Over the course of those stages different lyrics have jumped out at me and when I hear this song now it is the above lyric that stands out the most. I truly wish I had known Larry sooner then maybe I would have started healing sooner, but here we are. He has tried many times over the years to help me and to be honest I hate to think of how bad it could have been if it wasn’t for him. Now life has forced me into a corner where I have to deal with the trauma and this time I am ready for it, this time I am headed straight into the shining sun.
Larry’s Perspective:
This song immediately transports me back to 1994. Being a huge Pink Floyd fan, when they announced this album and tour it was like winning the lottery. It had been A LONG seven years since A Momentary Lapse of Reason had come out and since I had missed that tour I vowed not to miss this one (again, thanks Kim!)
This is probably my favorite song off of the album - it's just so beautiful and really hits on human emotions.
I'm confident we've all had moments in our lives where you look in the mirror and say - "Ok - time to get on with it - no sense wallowing anymore". A kind of re-birth if you will.
As we danced tonight, this lyric stood out:
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
Some nights that's what I feel like we're doing - just riding back through the past 30 years and enjoying our time together...
30th Anniversary
