Shannon’s Perspective:

This is just one of those perfect in its simplicity songs and those are some pretty powerful words and there is not much more I could add to them. Except to say that relationships take work and commitment from both people and I am lucky to have someone who understands the importance of that as well.
I mentioned before that The Outfield is so much more than Your Love (which was released in 1985). This song, single released in 2003, is a great example of their staying power. I know this song isn't widely known, but it most definitely should be.
A few things to unpack with this song.
The first is captured in the first few lines - and I interpret it as being thankful for the fact that you actually woke up and to count the blessings in your life.
The second - and it's a personal reference back to my memory problems - is really trying to capture the moments that matter. My sons wedding is a prime example. I made it a point to concentrate as best I could so I could capture those moments and hold them close.
And side note - it currently does feel like the world could fall apart.
Lastly is the challenges we are both facing right now. But "I know we're going to see this through", Shannon will "Keep those memories locked inside your heart" and "I'll love ya' 'til my dyin' day"
