Time to decide what kind of world I believe in
The world open wide
Or the world about to stop breathing
This is something I have been thinking about a lot here lately. As I continue to get older and as the world continues to change I see things that bring me so much hope and then there are the things that scare the living hell out of me. I'm guessing this is a normal occurrence for someone as they age. Ultimately I hope for the best while I prepare myself for the worst.
Larry’s Perspective:
Jackson Browne explains the album Time the Conqueror
In my mind the question: Sunrise or sunset?
While I can certainly appreciate the beauty of both, lyrically I've never had a very good view point of them.
When my dad passed away unexpectedly, there were two lyrics that went through my mind for quite a while.
The first is from a song called Closer by The Call:
But night can never reveal the coming morning
And morning never knows how the day will end
The second is from a song called Available Light by Rush
Promise offered in the east - broken in the west
You never get over the shock of something that happens so quickly and unexpectedly. The house (Time) always wins.
P.S. I said there were no more Rush songs on the list - that didn't mean I wouldn't reference other Rush songs...
Time The Conqueror
Jackson Browne
Time on my side, a stowaway in the slipstream
A time I could glide the shifting currents of my dream
In my dream the singing was coming from the sky
In my dream the sunlight was falling from one side
And every blade of grass was casting its own shadow
And every little bird was singing its own song
Time in my mind, the past of least resistance
The future almost blind, both in need of assistance
In my mind the question: Sunrise or sunset?
In my mind I'm certain: Nothing's certain yet
With every grain of sand casting its own shadow
And every ray of the sun flashing on the sea
Time may heal all wounds
But time will steal you blind
Time the wheel, time the conqueror
Time to decide what kind of world I believe in
The world open wide, Or the world about to stop breathing
In my world I'm standing just inside the door
In my world I'm speaking into the ocean's roar
And every thought of you casts its own little shadow
And everything I wanted, subject to review
Time may heal all wounds
But time will steal you blind
Time the wheel, time the conqueror
Every thought of you (time may heal all wounds but)
Casts its own little shadow (Time will steal you blind)
Everything I wanted (Time the wheel)
Subject to review (Every grain of sand)
Time on my side (Time will heal all wounds but time)
(Every little bird)
The past of least resistance
(Time will heal all wounds but time will steal you blind)
Every thought of you (Time the wheel)
Everything I wanted (Time the conqueror)
Everything we need (Time will heal all wounds)
Subject to review (Time will steal you blind) (Time)
(Time will heal) (Time)
Time will heal all wounds
(Time will heal all wounds, time)
(Time will heal all wounds, time)
