WE MADE IT! By made it I mean the timeframe between Gabriel and Connor's Birthdays. We decided very early on in this project that we knew we would need a mental break late summer. We've basically been at this for six months and it is No. Easy. Task.
I still basically don't know how to work WordPress and Facebook keeps deleting my posts because they think my links to these pages are spam.
Anyway - we are using this timeframe to just reflect on the songs that were a part of our lives because of our sons. Whether they came from movies, T.V., video games or just in general.
There is no heaviness in these songs - they just bring a smile to our souls remembering being cool parents and passing along our love of music. Are some of these songs going to be questionable in content and age inappropriate? I sure hope so. Will we have a lot to share? Not so much.
These are most likely personal, inside joke type songs. And the whole point of this project is to create a place our future family generations can read about.
But, I suppose, I can guarantee there will be songs you have not ever heard in your life - so at least you will hear some new stuff if you so desire.
We also decided for this group of songs, we would combine our thoughts - makes it easier on this "content creator".
As a reminder, Shannon and I had very, very different upbringings. Shannon had 70's, classic rock and disco. I had 50's and church hymns.
Now on to the song.
This is more a memory for Shannon and the boys. There was a big PSA campaign in the mid 90's to NOT SHAKE THE BABY. So essentially when they were young enough to be bathed in a sink, and carefully towel dried, DON'T SHAKE THE BABY morphed into SHAKE YOUR BOOTY.
As they grew a little and could stand, Shannon would sing this song to them while they obliged laughing the whole time.
P.S. The only two people on the planet who have heard Shannon singing loud and proud are our sons.
