Under Construction
Larry’s Perspective:
First, I'll start with the grammar nerd in me: it's hard to type 3 Doors Down as opposed to Three Doors Down. But that's what they went with, so here we are - driving some random human nuts.
I'll admit I don't think I ever appreciated 3 Doors down as I should have. They were more in Shannon's rotation so they floated by me. But they're no Creed. As in they aren't terrible.
I knew this song, but tonight was really the first night I listened to it. As Shannon previously mentioned, I have been blessed with the ability to hear separate tracks and it feels like a lot of layering is going on in this song. To someone like me that is greatly appreciated. Every time I listen to it, there's something new to hear.
Being where we are in our current situation, I can see why Shannon picked this song. The lines that jump out to me are:
"I look ahead to all the plans that we made
And the dreams that we had
I'm in a world that tries to take 'em away
Oh, but I'm takin' 'em back"
Prior to her health situation, we made tons of plans. We bought a house out here four years before we moved out. Her hometown is literally three hours from the Rocky Mountains. In Ohio that's the equivalent of driving from Columbus to Cleveland; and we all know how I feel about Cleveland (at least the RNR HOF). Ok, I feel Cleveland is generally terrible as well.
So I bought a truck while in Ohio. The first truck I've ever owned in my entire life. And on that truck I mounted a Leitner rack, CVT RTT (Rooftop Tent), Rotopax cannisters and tons of other camping supplies. Because I couldn't wait for us to hit Colorado BLM land and just decompress.
I traded in my dream motorcycle for a more terrain appropriate bike that we could explore that BLM land on.
But none of that is happening. And that's ok. We've had to adapt and are doing just fine. I came across an opportunity to purchase a camper, so we did. And we've already used it for the greatest reason with her brothers and their families - celebrating Shane.
And my bike? Well let's just say it's been solo riding or riding with a Harley friend I met out here. And hand to heart, it has had mechanical problems every time we went riding. Thank god for his BMW riding buddy who has tools and common sense.
So the world has tried to take away our dreams - but little did the world know I've watched Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and follow their advice to winning: "Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge."
So that's what we'll keep doing.
P.S. If someone wants a sweet deal on a CVT RTT hit me up! I might even deliver if the adventure is right!
