“Like the white flags of surrender, the war is over the battle’s ended.”
Once again it comes down to a debate over lyrics. This time it’s two different lyrics in the same song and the interwebs is no help, so this war of lyrics will probably never be over.
“Like the sky touches the sea, the horizon we will be”
“Like the moon touches the sun, an eclipse we will be gone”
OR…
“Like the sky touches the sea, we’ll rise and we will be”
“Like the moon touches the sun, in a glimpse we will be gone”
This is it folks this is how two music nerds entertain themselves for thirty plus years.
Larry’s Perspective:
This is the classic "I'm right and you're wrong" song.
This may very well be the oldest song that Shannon and I have fought over the lyrics - what is actually being said?
You would think the internet would help me declare victory - but it's not that simple. Because there are many variations that show up. So it appears the entire world is not even sure what the hell they are singing.
If you want to weigh in, by all means do.
My version:
"Like the sky touches the sea, we'll rise and we will be."
Shannon's version:
"Like the sky touches the sea, the horizon we will be."
Later on on the song,
My version:
"Like the moon touches the sun, in a glimpse we will be gone"
Shannon's version:
"Like the moon touches the sun, an eclipse we will be gone"
Look - somebody get me Eric Bloom on the phone right now to settle this once and for all. He can tell us what the hell he is singing!
