Shannon’s Perspective:
“I’m not the one to tell you what’s wrong or what’s right.”
Ok, that is definitely sarcasm from me, because I have no problem giving people my opinion or unsolicited advice. Rest assured though that it really does come from a good place. I don’t mean to be so bossy, it’s just my nature. It seems I’m forever stuck in the big sister role, which is fine most of the time, life put me in the big sister role with 5 younger siblings.
I know there is a lot of BOC songs so far and we're only ~60 days into this project, but bear with me.
I should probably rewind a little bit in my life. Growing up in Columbus, Ohio the main radio station I listened to was QFM96 (96.3 on the 'ol FM dial). For the majority of my life, the main DJ's were Wags and Elliot. QFM96 was basically a classic rock station and so that's where my love of the genre was born and cultivated.
Blue Oyster Cult was in a pretty consistent rotation, and quite honestly, I never thought they got the props they deserved.
Once VCR's came around and I could get ahold of the movie Heavy Metal, I watched it because BOC was a part of the soundtrack along with a ton of other great artists.
From a very young rebellious age, I loved this song - I mean what teenager doesn't aspire to lyrics like "A'int no home for me" and "Home isn't my way".
When I met Shannon and we would hear this song, I would always sing those two lines to her - essentially implying there was no way I was going to be tied down. See the "What It Takes" post for my anti-domestication fail...
