    Shannon’s Perspective:

And I'm running through the snow towards the sunset
    And I'm always with you

When this song came out in 2009 Larry and I were already planning the next chapter of our story. A chapter where children are grown and flown and it is just the two of us against the world again. As the boys got older and the reality of them going where ever their lives might take them, we started talking about what that meant for us. We decided what that meant was we were not tied down to Ohio forever if we did not want to be and this song was at the beginning of that realization.

Larry’s Pick: Farewell To the Fairground

Shannon and I were discussing how this song came into our lives. I'm pretty sure it was when I would just play a song and let Pandora choose other songs like the one I chose. That was great because that's how I found a lot of bands I had never heard before.

I'm also not going to lie, as there is a visual picture of me you should put into your head when you hear these lines:

    Farewell to the fairground
    These rides aren't working anymore
    Goodbye to this dead town

That visual is this - me throwing both my hands into the air giving Columbus or just generally Ohio the bird.

I had lived a long life in the same general area and it was time for me to move on. Shannon and my sons aside, I regret not living more places in my life. Experiencing different climates, geographies, culture, etc.

So if there's a couple pieces of advice I could give, it would be these:

    1) There's no sex in the champaign room. None.
    2) Don't go to parties with metal detectors
    3) Wear Sunscreen
    4) Don't be afraid to move somewhere new - it may do both your physical health as well as mental health some good.
    Farewell to the Fairground
    White Lies

The lights still in our eyes
We're leaving this whole fairground behind
    It's a dream that's going cold
    The circus never dies
The act forever haunts these skies
    I know we cannot stay

    Farewell to the fairground
    These rides aren't working anymore
    Goodbye to this dead town
Until the ice begins to thaw

    This place used to gleam
I see it in my hopeful dreams
Now I have to get away
    We move towards the stars
And all that we touch becomes ours
Let's keep warm 'til it's day

    Farewell to the fairground
    These rides aren't working anymore
    Goodbye to this dead town
Until the ice begins to thaw

We'll head south, just hold my hand now
I feel like I'm casting off my clothes
And I'm running through the snow towards the sunset
    And I'm always with you

    Keep on running
    Keep, keep on running
    There's no place like home
    There's no place like home

    Keep on running
    Keep, keep on running
    There's no place like home
    There's no place like home

    Keep on running
    Keep, keep on running
    There's no place like home
    There's no place like home

    Keep on running
    Keep, keep on running
    There's no place like home
    There's no place like home

    Keep on running
    Keep, keep on running
    There's no place like home
    There's no place like home

    Keep on running
    Keep, keep on running
    There's no place like home
    There's no place like home

    Farewell to the fairground
    These rides aren't working anymore
    Goodbye to this dead town
Until the ice begins to thaw

We'll head south, just hold my hand now
I feel like I'm casting off my clothes
And I'm running through the snow towards the sunset
    And I'm always with you
