    Shannon’s Perspective:

“There's an old voice in my head
    That's holding me back”

Today was another Ketamine Infusion Day. These days are hard both physically and emotionally, but the hope is that the ends justify the means.

    Larry’s Pick: Little Talks

I don't think in any previous post I have made the request that you click on the link and listen to the song before proceeding. I am making the assumption the majority of our non-existent audience have not heard this song before. Go ahead, I'll give you a few minutes.

    THIS SPACE LEFT INTENTIONALLY BLANK

Ok - let me first reference back to The Impression That I Get write-up where I stated "In the grand scheme of this year long project, this is a top 5 severely depressing song that sounds nothing like a depressing song."

Well Little Talks is probably in the top spot. Number one. I think we have our songs pretty well vetted for the remainder of the year, and I don't think there is anything that will beat this one.

I discovered this band, Of Monsters and Men, from their song Dirty Paws which was on The Secret Life of Walter Mitty soundtrack. I loved that song so much I had to dive deeper. And so here I am, head underwater in my secret well of emotion.

Essentially this is a duet - between a widowed wife and her deceased husband.

This song hits me like a ton of bricks because it puts it right out there that Shannon may be on her own one day. I can't fathom not being here for her...

Being the stubborn a-holes we both are, we've literally argued over who should die first and who would be better equipped to handle the loss of the other.

Enjoy listening to the song again with this new knowledge and reading the lyrics! Sucks to know this now, huh? That's how I felt when I found out...

    Little Talks
    Of Monsters And Men

    Hey!
    Hey!
    Hey!

I don't like walking around this old and empty house

So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear

The stairs creak as you sleep, It's keeping me awake

It's the house telling you to close your eyes

And some days I can't even dress myself

It's killing me to see you this way

'Cause though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore

    Hey!
    Hey!
    Hey!

There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back

Well tell her that I miss our little talks

Soon it will be over, and buried with our past

We used to play outside when we were young and full of life and full of love

Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right

Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear

'Cause though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore

    Hey!

    Don't listen to a word I say - Hey!
'Cause screams all sound the same - Hey!

Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore

    Hey!
    Hey!

    You're gone, gone, gone away
    I watched you disappear
All that's left is a ghost of you

Now we're torn, torn, torn apart, there's nothing we can do
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon

Now wait, wait, wait for me, please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep - Hey!

    Don't listen to a word I say - Hey!
'Cause screams all sound the same - Hey!

Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore

    Don't listen to a word I say - Hey!
'Cause screams all sound the same - Hey!

Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore

Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore

Though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore…

P.S. Rodney Mullen of the Bones Brigade (as mentioned in Wave of Mutilation) performed some of the skate stunts in the Walter Mitty movie. And yes, Ben Stiller did some of the skating himself.
