Shannon’s Pick: Major Tom (Coming Home)

“Now the light commands, this is my home
I'm coming home”

The reason I chose these lyrics is because of the photo viewer keychain. You have to hold it up to the light to see the photo clearly (now the light commands) and when I look at this photo from the beginning of our relationship I realize that when I found Larry I found my home.

Larry’s Perspective:

If you haven't read about the significance of this song, I encourage you to do so in my entry about Our Story - Larry's Perspective.

While it should be plainly evident that the photo above couldn't have possibly been taken in October in Ohio making today some type of life event, the life event comes about because of the discovery of that photo.

Express had some type of "Summer Picnic" event for employees where they would have cheap carnival activities, etc. at the DC3 Express building on Morse Road. One of the things they apparently did that I didn't remember was take photos that were placed into a small keychain memento.

During one of Shannon's rage clean sessions (read - trying to get rid of all my random shit) she came across this memento...on October 26th, 2022. So I put my iPhone camera into the view slot and snapped this picture. So 1993 came alive in 2022 - and 2024!

P.S. Lbrands finally got with the program years later and would alternate between renting out King's Island one year and Cedar Point the next. Being a front seat roller coaster junky, I appreciated them spending a few of their billion dollars to make that happen. Even though most times we shared the parks with one other company, it was still fantastic to basically have the parks to ourselves.

P.P.S. Here's a little video of me in the front row at Cedar Point on Top Thrill Dragster (which unfortunately, this 400+ foot high, 0 to 120mph in 3.8 seconds ride is no longer with us). You can hear some of my coworkers proclaim I had my hands up the entire time - which I did. Even better, watch it a second time and keep an eye on the guy behind me...he was pretty nervous. BTW I'm the guy in the front row not wearing the hat...
