Somebody Told Me (The Killers); Miss Murder (AFI)

Our Perspective / Pick: Somebody Told Me; Miss Murder

There was a time, not so long ago (ok, maybe it’s longer ago than I’d like to admit) when the boys would come home from school and have a snack then Connor and I would play Guitar Hero together. Sometimes Gabriel would play with us as well. This transitioned over time to the whole family playing Rock Band together. These songs, Miss Murder in particular, always remind me of how much fun we would have. It also reminds me of how Connor informed me I could not be the lead or even back up guitarist when we played Rock Band because I was not good enough so I would have to play bass. Connor, unfortunately for him, inherited his mother’s directness and rarely pulls punches. If he hadn’t been so right my feelings might have been hurt but he was correct and it wasn’t fair of me to hold the band back.

LB Notes:

Rock Band, and the Wii in particular, was a great way for us to spend family time together. It was tough when the band broke up - the lead guitar player and the bassist were constantly fighting, the back up guitarist never showed for practice or even gigs and the drummer, was well the drummer.

I have to plug the Weird Al song Polkarama which has a bit from Somebody Told Me...classic Al...
