On this day (August 6) in 2005 I was treated to an evening on the town with my aunt and one of my cousins. The three of us went to dinner and then went to see the Phantom of the Opera at the Ohio Theater in downtown Columbus, Ohio. I am not a super fan of the Phantom but I did appreciate the opportunity to go. Honestly, I do not remember much of the opera or of dinner but I do remember we had to park quite far away for some reason and walking in Columbus in August downtown can be stifling, so we were all a little cranky about this fact. But once we decided we were just gonna make the best of the walk and enjoy some good conversation we all had a much more enjoyable evening and that is the part I remember most about the night. Just getting to spend time with people that you love. My cousin passed away earlier this year, she would have been 60 in June and the aunt I went with was not her mother but the mother of my cousin Joey who was murdered in 1994, so just to be able to have that time with them that evening is something I will treasure for the rest of my days.
P.S. Larry and I have recently started watching Young Sheldon and we saw an episode that featured the song Soft Kitty and when I was picking my song for this memory I was struck by how much Soft Kitty sounds like this songs chorus.
