Wonderful (Everclear)

Shannon’s Pick: Wonderful

“I just don't understand how
You can smile with all those tears in your eyes
Tell me everything is wonderful now”

Much like last night’s song I can relate to this from both the perspective of the child and also the parent. Also, like last night’s song this song was released in the early 2000’s, which made me pause and think about why both of these songs from the same time period would end up on this project. It was then that I realized that our little family was going through some turmoil in the early 2000’s. Gabriel was in the process of being diagnosed with ADHD, Larry and I were still on separate shifts, and Connor was just trying to make it through the whole mess. Obviously we made it though, although not without scars or battle fatigue, but in 2024 I believe our family (including our newest member and daughter-in-law Kristen who joined this wild bunch in 2020) is stronger than we have ever been.

Larry’s Perspective:

This song came out in 2000 when my sons were four and five.

If you have never heard this song and more importantly seen the video, read Stay Together For The Kids (and you should probably watch that video as well) and then watch this one.

This just shoved a potential reality into my face that I swore would never happen.

There's honestly not much more that I can add.
